Products Market Stats Settings
Overview
Market stats categorize your products based on their position relative to competitors. These settings define the thresholds for each category.
Base Price Strategy
Choose how to calculate the base price for comparison:
Cheapest Competitor
- Uses the lowest competitor price as baseline
- Good for businesses aiming to be the lowest price
- Most aggressive comparison
Average Price of Competitors
- Uses average of all competitor prices
- Reflects overall market pricing
- Good for mid-tier businesses
- Most balanced approach
Median Price
- Uses median competitor price
- Removes effect of extreme high/low prices
- Good for stable market analysis
- Less affected by outliers
Segments Configuration
Configure the percentage thresholds for each market position category:
Super Cheap (Light Green)
- More than X% lower than base price
- Default: 20% lower
- Indicates very aggressive pricing
Cheaper (Teal)
- X-Y% lower than base price
- Default: 5-20% lower
- Indicates competitive pricing below market
On Par (Gray)
- Within ±X% of base price
- Default: ±5%
- Indicates competitive pricing
Expensive (Orange)
- X-Y% above base price
- Default: 5-20% above
- Indicates which of your products are priced above market
More Expensive (Red)
- More than X% above base price
- Default: 20% above
- Indicates which of your products are priced too far above market
Adjusting Segments
Using Sliders:
- Drag sliders to adjust thresholds
- Segments update automatically
- Visual feedback shows new ranges
Considerations:
- Overlapping segments are prevented
- Minimum and maximum values are enforced
- Changes might take some time to take effect (use Recalculate Now in Dashboard → Stats Actions to apply them immediately)
Consider Draft Products
Option: Include draft products in market stats calculation
When Enabled:
- Draft products included in statistics
- Broader market view
- May skew results if many drafts
When Disabled:
- Only Watch and Watch & Reprice products included
- More accurate active product stats
- Recommended for most users
Saving Market Stats Settings
Click "Save" to apply changes. Market stats will recalculate automatically.
Repricing Safeguard Settings
Overview
Repricing safeguards prevent extreme price changes by setting global limits. They work alongside repricing rules to protect your pricing.
How Safeguards Work
- Before Rule Calculation: Safeguards filter competitor prices
- Price Validation: Suggested prices are checked against limits
- Price Blocking: Prices outside limits are rejected
- Rule Application: Only valid prices are applied
Base Selection
Choose what to base the limits on:
Product (Variant) Price
- Limits based on current selling price
- Good for maintaining price stability
- Prevents large price swings
Product (Variant) Cost
- Limits based on product cost
- Good for protecting profit margins
- Ensures minimum profitability
Minimum Allowed Price
Setting: Percentage of base price/cost
Example: If base is $100 and minimum is 80%
- Minimum price = 80
- Safeguard causes repricing to ignore prices below $80
Use Cases:
- Protect profit margins
- Prevent loss-leader pricing
- Maintain price floors
- Prevents accidental repricing when a competitor uses a different packaging size
Warning: Setting minimum too low with cost base can result in losses
Maximum Allowed Price
Setting: Percentage of base price/cost
Example: If base is $100 and maximum is 200%
- Maximum price = 200
- Repricing won't go above $200
Use Cases:
- Prevent pricing errors
- Maintain price ceilings
- Control premium pricing
- Prevents accidental repricing when a competitor uses a different packaging size
Validation
The system validates your settings:
Warnings:
- Cost Base with Low Minimum: Warns if minimum might allow losses
- Invalid Range: Warns if minimum > maximum
Errors Prevent Saving:
- Invalid configurations cannot be saved
- Must fix errors before applying
Best Practices
For Price Base:
- Minimum: 70-90% (protect against drops)
- Maximum: 150-200% (prevent spikes)
For Cost Base:
- Minimum: 100-120% (ensure profitability)
- Maximum: 200-300% (allow healthy margins)
Recommendations:
- Start conservative
- Adjust based on results
- Monitor safeguard triggers
- Review regularly
